Nobody likes struggle travel. Well, I will just speak for myself and say, I do not like struggle travel, which is when you struggle with luggage, getting through lines, and anything else that inconveniences you. One of my travel goals is to reduce the struggle, so I want to talk about TSA PreCheck and how to get through security faster. I call TSA PreCheck the airport’s VIP lane.
What is TSA PreCheck?
TSA PreCheck is a government program that was started to help travelers expedite their way through airport security. It makes domestic travel easier and faster. It is only open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and lawful permanent residents. With TSA PreCheck you can leave on your shoes, light jackets, and all that extra hoopla that comes with going through security. This is not for international travel when coming back into the country (you need Global Entry for that), but leaving out, you should be good.
Right now, TSA PreCheck cost $78 for five years. With this cost, children 12 and under may accompany an enrolled parent or guardian in the TSA PreCheck lanes without restrictions. So bring the kiddies along in the fast lane.
How to Get TSA Precheck?
The enrollment is easy to sign up for…just apply online for pre-approval, then schedule an appointment. From what I recall, the appointment was only 10 minutes or so. And recently just before my initial five years expired, I renewed quickly online. So, check out the TSA website for required documents and then head over to one of the enrollment centers. Within 2-3 weeks (or less), you will get a notification (if everything is all good) that you are ready and SET to go with your approved TSA Pre Check number! From there, you will just start using your Known Traveler Number when booking travel.
Who Should Get TSA Precheck?
If you travel more than twice a year, it is worth it. Also, if you travel for business, you should have been had this. If you travel like me and my crew, you definitely need it, so what are you waiting for?
Side Note: If you don’t have it when you are traveling with me, I’ll just see you on the other side, because why should I wait in line and go through all of that when I have my struggle-free TSA PreCheck…just saying.
Now if you want to take it to next level, go with Global Entry, but I will touch on that in another post.
My goal is to inspire you to create stress-free great travel experiences, and TSA PreCheck is just one way to do so.
Do you have TSA PreCheck, and if so, what is your next travel adventure?
