I love a good flight savings and not everyone can fly wherever, whenever and however, so we need to get in where we fit in. Well, how do you do this?

Weekday Savings

I can confirm that flying on a weekday is usually cheaper. According to Google Flights analysis, booking your getaway between Monday to Wednesday could save you on average around 12%. If you just stick to domestic travel, you can save up to 20% by sticking to weekday travel. Avoid Fridays and Sundays when possible, as these tend to be the most expensive days to travel. Saturdays tend to be cheaper too because people are usually off work and exploring. So if you and your crew are flexible, look into flying out during a weekday.

Travel Demand

Weekends are usually more expensive for flights because leisure travelers prefer to fly on Fridays and return on Sundays, while business travelers tend to fly out on Sundays. This means that mid-week days are often cheaper for those who are flexible with travel dates.

I understand if you have to travel around specific event dates, but if are are just taking a getaway trip, why not fly on a day where you can save money? Plan ahead, take some extra days off, and enjoy the savings. When looking up flights, try flexing your days by 1 or 2 days, and see how much you can save.

Don’t Just Listen to Me

You need to validate these findings yourself. Check out Google Flights and plug in some dates to your destination and see what prices pop up. Technology has made it so much easier for us to be savvy travelers, so definitely take advantage of it.
