Bleisure (business + leisure) travel is when you mix your work trips with leisure travel. This is taking over the travel industry and I am a big fan! I’ve been on the giving end where I’ve invited others along my business trip, and I’ve been on the receiving end, where I have crashed a hotel room (respectfully) on someone’s business trip, and I’ve done solo bleisure travel, and every time it was worth it.
Incorporate the Leisure
It can be as simple as extending your trip by a day or more and enjoying the environment. So next time your company sends you to conference, especially to a cool destination, think about staying a little longer to enjoy your surroundings.
With bleisure travel, you can:
- Save money on airfare and accommodations
- You can possibly bring a friend or family along
- Enjoy the local culture, shopping and foods
Bleisure the Right Way
Just check to make sure your extended flights are within company budget, and be willing to pay for additional days of accommodation. Also, be mindful of expense management and keep personal expenses separate from business expenses. And of course make sure you complete your work obligations, and then the fun begins!
Have you done any bleisure travel?
