I would all love to travel in luxury all the time (who wouldn’t?!?), but my budget may have other plans. So even if I can’t fly first class in prime season with my seat laying fully flat, while wear custom airline pajamas, I can still add a little razzle dazzle to my travels. The key is prioritizing aspects of the trip that are most important to you.
Every aspect of your trip doesn’t have to be top of the line luxury, but it’s nice to have aspects that make you feel special.
A Little Goes A Long Way
Here are some tips to add a little luxury to your travel experiences so that the entire trip doesn’t blow your budget:
- Travel during the less popular seasons to avoid crowds and enjoy a more exclusive atmosphere. Just make sure to check the seasonal forecast when planning. You get more attention when it is less crowded.
- Stay at an adults-only resort. It just feels fancier without the sounds of kids. For an added bonus, book a room with a Club or Exclusive Lounge.
- Pack Your Best – Wear a show stopping outfit. Dress up for a special night. It feels great receiving compliments and it will have you feeling all cute.
- Book a private car in advance to take you to your hotel. This is how I like to arrive if I’m celebrating something special. Book early and add it to the travel budget.
- Use points to upgrade your flight or room, or just ask the agent for an upgrade and see what happens.
- Treat yourself to a spa massage. Having a morning of pampering is the ultimate feeling of luxe experience for me.
- Book a private excursion – When you do this, you will have your own private driver to show you around the island or town. This way, it feels more exclusive and you are on your own schedule and not waiting for a group.
- Bring your own fancy bottle of your favorite beverage to your room. Make yourself a cocktail while you are getting ready for evening or winding down at night, because it is a drink that you know you will love.
- Ask for special requests when booking your reservation and follow up when it is closer to time for you to travel. If you are celebrating something, let them know in your reservation notes.
Sometimes it’s just worth it to pay for convenience, comfort and even indulgence. Luxury for me may be different for you, so that is why it is important to tailor your travel plans to your budget and preferences. It’s all about planning and prioritizing what matter most to you.
What luxurious thing did you do on your last trip or do you have any plans to create a little luxury for your next trip?
