Winter season always has me thinking about a warm weather vacay. I rarely take vacations to cold weather destinations, but when I do, it’s for a good reason. Since most of my vacation destinations usually land me at the beach or poolside, I created a packing list of the things I usually pack to share with you. Check it out and share it with your crew!

Basic Essentials

If I don’t have my essentials when I walk out the door, I am usually driving back to get them before I take flight. It’s essential to have your ID / Passport, medication, currency and credit cards when you walk out the door. Most other stuff, you can buy once you get to your destination, although I don’t recommend it.

Clothing

What you pack for clothing will be based on the weather and your itinerary. If I’m going somewhere warm, I always pack a swimsuit. You have to consider if you are going to dinner or partying the night away to determine if you need to pack a fancy outfit. If you plan to lounge or workout, you have to make sure to pack for that as well. Basically try to plan out days, so that you can pack more efficiently.

Shoes

I will admit that I have problem, when it comes to deciding which shoes to pack. Sneakers are a must on any vacation. I usually just wear my sneakers to the airport. If you plan on going to the beach or on an excursion, you should pack beach shoes such as flip flops and / or water shoes. Try to keep shoe colors neutral so that you can pair them with a variety of outfits and avoid packing too many shoes.

Outerwear

Many warm destinations will be very hot during the day, and then can get really cool at night, so it is important to pack a jacket, sweater, sweatshirt or hoodie. I try and pack something that can be work with various outfits. If possible, I try and wear my light outwear on the plane, especially if it’s cozy enough for the flight.

Accessories

I try and keep accessories light when traveling, but some outfits may call for a special bag or belt to pull the look together. If possible, try and stick to a day and evening bag. Other essentials such as hats and eyeglasses are needed to ensure you have a comfortable vacation.

Toiletries

Make sure you have a toiletry bag that can hold all of your essentials. The amount of toiletries I personally bring depends on how I am wearing my hair. I know, that may sound crazy to some people, but it’s the truth. I’m always going to pack the basic toiletries that I use everyday, but I may need to pack extra hair products to make sure my hair is doing what it’s suppose to do while on vacation.

Beach / Pool Essentials

We all know that a swimsuit is a must, but other items such as a sun hat, beach shoes, coverups and a beach bag are just as important. Depending on where you are going, it’s good to have a water bottle or beach cup for your water or whatever else you decide to put in your cup (but that is none of my business).

Electronics

Make sure you have a portable charger for your cell phone, especially if you are going on all-day excursions. Also, keep some headphones for earbuds on you for when you are on the plane or around others who don’t want to hear what you are listening to. An iPad or some kind of entertainment is good for the airplane or beach. Your cell phones can easily be used for entertainment but I sometimes enjoy having a larger screen. A portable speaker is good to pack for beach days, or if you want to play some tunes in the room. Just don’t make it too loud and be aware of others when playing your speaker. I’m sure there are other small electronics to include, so I left a space on the packing list to write the item(s) in.

Carry-On Bags

I pack everything I need for the flight in my carry-on bag. But make sure you know what not to pack. For carry-on bags, liquids should be in a container no larger than 3.4 ounces. Liquid containers larger than 3.4 ounces should go into checked luggage!

Tailor Your Packing List

This packing list can be tailored by adding your own items, or crossing out the items you don’t need. Download and print out this list and use to back of the paper to plan out outfits by days. Depending on your itinerary, it sometimes easier to plan daily outfits for day and night. This way you are not adding any unnecessary clothing and saving on packing space.
